Cooking Class at the Willy Street Coop

Join Mary Dougherty, author of Life in a Northern Town, for a discussion about cooking, eating and living in Bayfield, Wisconsin. Just in time for fall entertaining, she’ll prepare a Savory Gorgonzola Cheesecake and Dried Pear Flatbread. Food samples will be available for tasting.

After a sailing trip to Lake Superior and the Apostle Islands, Mary Dougherty transplanted her family of seven (plus four dogs) to Bayfield. She opened and co-ran Good Thyme Restaurant, recognized as one of the top dining experiences in northern Wisconsin. She went on to create the Cookery Maven blog and Words for Water, a photography project about the importance of fresh water.

As part of her From Farm to Fork tour of Minnesota, join author, journalist, and local food expert Beth Dooley, author of In Winter's Kitchen, for a conversation about the local food scene in Duluth, MN.

Beth with speak alongside Mary Dougherty, a former restaurant owner and the author of the recent memoir/cookbook, "Life in a Northern Town: Cooking, Eating & Other Adventures Along Lake Superior". The audience will hear about Beth’s experiences with Minnesota food movements and will have the opportunity to share their own stories of food developments, concerns, and histories unique to the region.
